Oh Behave!
Admit it-you chuckle when you catch Rover slurping from the toilet.
And it's kind of cute to watch the great lengths to which Miss Kitty
will go in order to make sure that her business stays private as she
painstakingly rakes the litter.
While we might encourage dogs to drink from their water bowls rather
than the toilet bowl, we laugh when it occasionally happens because
we know that dogs will be dogs. There are some things that animals
do that we humans would look ridiculous doing-like lifting a leg on
a fire hydrant, barking at the mail carrier, running around in circles-or
wearing fur.
PETA's new commercials make their debut at the TromaDance independent
film festival, a celebration of cutting-edge filmmaking that coincides
with the Sundance film festival. Created by the Princeton, New Jersey-based
advertising agency Gillespie, the ads, which will be shown in Salt
Lake City and Park City, Utah, throughout the festival, are hilarious
reminders that there are some things that only animals can get away
with doing-and wearing fur is one of them.
You don't drink from the toilet-why are you wearing fur?
Whether it's mink, fox, raccoon, chinchilla, beaver, rabbit, or lynx,
fur looks beautiful only on its original owner. Every year, millions
of animals are poisoned, gassed, bludgeoned, drowned, or anally electrocuted
just so that people can strut around wearing fur.

“Toilet”
A model on all fours and draped in fur laps water from the toilet
in her upscale apartment, illustrating the fact that dressing
in animal skins is no different from acting like animals in
other ways. |
 |
“Fur
Ball”
As every fastidious kitty knows, keeping that fur coat tidy
is a must. But when our fur-licking model coughs up a huge fur
ball, the revolting nature of human fur-wearers becomes clear. |
 |
“Litterbox”
In this PETA ad, a fur-clad model answers nature’s call
by using the cat’s litterbox—reminding us that wearing
animals’ fur is on a par with mimicking their toilet habits. |
